(Most recent post on this was September 4, 2020)
Over two years ago I lamented there was no good consolidated list of TSX-traded debentures available.
I’ll give Felix Choo some credit for resurrecting a digital version of this. In general, his lists are about half of the exchange traded debentures on the TSX.
After consolidating a bunch of information together and going through a hundred documents or so on SEDAR, I am finally in a position to publish an authoritative list of debentures (109) and notes (3) that are trading on the TSX.
I have not included TSX Venture, but in case if you were wondering what you were missing on the TSXV, only a handful – 22 tickers among 18 issuers. Maybe I’ll add them in the future.
The entire list (as of September 3, 2019) of TSX-listed debt instruments (convertible debentures, exchange-traded notes) can be accessed at the following shared Google Sheet linked here.
I’ll give the standard disclaimer: I have tried to make it very accurate, but things can slip through the cracks.
Other than trying to make this a “real-time” sheet (can anybody give me a good automated source of debenture quotations that doesn’t involve a $2,000/month Bloomberg Terminal?), comments to improve this would be appreciated.
Thank you. Much appreciated.
This is so helpful. Thanks! You can pull prices from TMXMoney, but there might be limits to the # of queries you can make at once since it’s a big list.
There’s a real-time list here: http://www.conferencecalltranscripts.org/debs/
Thanks to somebody wishing to remain anonymous, the spreadsheet is now with “nearly” real-time updating.
excellent ! thank you
Fantastic job on this Sacha….new debentures listed immediately….thank-you. I can’t seem to figure out how to comment or see the comments on the actual spreadsheet……
You have JE.DB.C , JE.DB.D maturity dates mixed up…..C is D and vice versa.
Thank you for this Marc. Correction has been confirmed and made. It didn’t help the coupon rate was the same and I probably got confused doing the mass data entry!
Right now I do not have a good (free) method to discovering new ticker symbols so those additions were manual. Going forward I plan on doing quarterly sweeps.
Comments on the sheet directly can be implemented by clicking on the upper-right hand side (the “conversation” box) or right-clicking on any individual cell.
So far nobody has used this so you haven’t missed out on much.
FYI….AFN.DB.G started trading yesterday, Chorus Aviation new 5.75% deb will start trading
on or about Dec 6th.
Thanks, I’ve updated AFN. It is not clear to me at present whether they intend on listing Chrous’ offering. If it happens, I’ll get it on the list. At this point forward I intend on doing quarterly updates of the list although if somebody chimes between quarters, I’ll add them in.
FYI……………CHR.DB.A traded Friday.
Thanks. I note CHR.DB had its first trades today even though Fairfax can’t sell them until December 31…
you should add Medexus Debentures MDP.DB – i know it is on the TSX Venture – but it’s a pretty good one. Principal with be repaid with a payment equal to 125% of the outstanding principal sum. At current price that is a 11.42% annualized return.

My list is strictly TSX and not TSXV. Thanks for the heads-up, however. There hasn’t been much activity in 2020.
Cineplex offering $275 million of debentures at between 5.25 to 5.75% settling on July 15th/2020…..yikes.
Brave investors even at 575bps! Maybe with first lien security I’d nibble…
Settled at 5.75%…already fully subscribed….I think these will hit 97.50 on the first day with the brokerages unloading their allotment.
This is crazy good pricing for CGX. Amazing. Strike while the iron’s hot…
What are the chances they go belly up?

PLC.DB started trading today Sacha.
Much appreciated Marc. Updated.
